Life is very busy at the moment. Last week I worked at school four mornings a week instead of three, and this week is the same. On top of that, there has been extra busyness, like end of year activities, on top of the usual busyness. The more I thought about the busyness, the more tired and overwhelmed I felt. I had to remind myself that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." If I focus on my busyness, I will feel paralyzed by overwhelm and tiredness. If I focus on Christ, I will find the strength to get through each day.
God will not give me more than I can handle with His help.
If David had of focused on the size of Goliath, he would have been paralized with fear, just like everyone else. But his focus was on God, and that's how he fought Goliath.
When Peter's eyes were on Christ, he could do the impossible and walk on water. When he looked around at the storm, he started to drown.
This busyness at the moment is just a season. I definitely don't want to be this busy all the time, but right now it's a necessity. Sometimes we need to say "No" so we don't get too busy. But sometimes it's just a time we need to go through. If our eyes are on Christ, we can do it. But if our eyes are on the size of our challenges or the storm around us, we won't get very far.
I need to keep things simple at the moment, some things can wait till the holidays, our biscuits may be store bought and the house may be less clean than usual, but I CAN do the job that God wants me to do right now.
Maybe you are overwhelmed by the challenges in your life or in the world around you. It makes a huge difference when you don't meditate on these things. Meditating and focusing on negative things somehow makes them seem much bigger. Instead remind yourself that God is limitless and that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
When our eyes are on Christ, He can do amazing things through us! Things we could never do in our own strength.
