A Picture of Contentment

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philippians 4:11
I walked into the bathroom where my two little girls were in the bath. My husband had put them in while I was doing a few other things. When I came back I saw them both sitting there. They were each holding a matching pink plate from a tea set. There were no other toys in the bath, but they were perfectly content with what they had. Esther was sucking her plate and Hannah was playing with her one. For the whole time they were in the bath, they kept themselves amused with their plates and with each other!
They were a picture of contentment, finding enjoyment in simple things.
I received a Christmas card from a sponsor child one year and what he wrote made an impression on me. He said,
“Let's find joy in simple things and see beauty in every situation.”

Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.” Proverbs 15:16

  1. Dear Emily, You have such a beautiful blog, such encouragement. The "She Always Made Home Happy" post actually gave me goosebumps. Thank you. I needed that. I would love to share my blog with you, too. I wrote about my journey with the Lord in the hopes that it would help encourage others to draw nearer to God's love, truth and healing. It's at sweetlybrokengirl.blogspot.com. I will definitely be back to check out more of your posts. Keep up the great work! Take care and God bless! - Heather K
