Paul said these words when there was no hope that anyone would survive the storm he was in. God sent an angel to promise him that although they would be shipwrecked, no one in the ship would die. Paul believed God and was able to encourage everyone on the ship. It took faith to believe God's Word, because it seemed impossible. God kept his promise and everyone made it to shore safely.
God doesn't promise that we will never be sick or that we won't die. He doesn't promise to keep us from storms and hard times. But He has promised to be with us. He has promised He will supply our needs. He has promised that He is working all things together for good, if we love Him. So we can cheer up, and believe God that it shall be as He has said.
