Lift Me Up

A prayer based on Psalm 30:1a

I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up,

Lift Me Up
Lord, I'm feeling so discouraged
I'm starting to despair
My eyes are facing downward
And my mind is filled with fears.

Lord, lift me up and carry me
I want to feel your love
Lord, lift me up and hold me close
Help me see things from above
I need to feel Your nearness
I want to feel Your love
Lord, lift me up and carry me
So that I can rise above

Lord, I'm so tired and weary
Trying to do Your will
I keep taking another step
But it seems it's all uphill

Lord, I am so selfish
Focused on me
Lift me up so I can see
All the needs around me.

Vlog and Sunday School Songs

Vlog--Covid, Co ops and Timing

Usually I would find it very hard to write songs, especially the lyrics. But I have asked God to give me songs for children. While I have been teaching the Bible at school, I have had lots of inspiration to write songs that went along with my lesson. But it was so busy, I didn't have the time to make them into videos. However, one of my children came down with Covid, which meant we all needed to isolate. Since I was still feeling well, it gave me a chance to put these videos together. These songs are all based on Bible verses or stories.

Be Kind to One Another

You Reap What You Sow

When You Don't Know What To Do

What Time Is It?

Romans 6:23 (I just put this verse to a well known fun tune)

Flooding, Fun Ideas, and a song

A new vlog

A new song that relates to what I talk about on my vlog. It is based on Isaiah 43:2 and inspired by swimming with Lydia. It is in the deep water that Lydia needs me the most.

Teach Me to Trust

Teach me to trust when there is cause to fear,
When trials come and tempests sore appear;
Help me to know that Thou, O God, art near--
Teach me to trust, Teach me to trust.

Teach me to trust when skies are shining bright,
Or when I grope alone in sorrow's night;
Thy love provides whatever's best and right--
Teach me to trust, teach me to trust.

Teach me to trust 'mid all life's tangled ways,
In all its disappointments and delays;
Give me a song-- a sacrifice of praise!
Teach me to trust, Teach me to trust.

Teach me to trust when weary, worn and frail,
When sickness, pain and other ills assail;
Thy grace sustains, Thy promise will not fail--
Teach me to trust, Teach me to trust.

Consider the Ravens

Consider the Ravens
A Scripture song from Luke 12:24-32

 "Four Eyes" Story
Another Read With Me story. Joseph wanted one he could help act out! So this one is about taking care of our eyes, not making fun of those who need to wear glasses and being thankful for our eyesight.

I'm Glad I've a God Who Knows

One of the things that I find the most comforting in the Bible is that God is all-knowing. So many times it says, God knows...
He knows the number of hairs on our heads.
He knows our sorrows.
He knows what we have need of before we ask Him.
He knows the secrets of our hearts.
He knows the way that I take.

He understands us far more than we understand ourselves. Because He made us, He knows the way we think. Other people don't always understand us because they don't know everything about us. But God knows us. Our husband may care deeply, yet he doesn't know what it's like to be a woman--to be pregnant, to be in labour, to have a miscarriage, to have baby blues and so on. But God created women! He doesn't excuse our sin, but he understands us like no one else. I find huge comfort in that!
But He doesn't only know, He also cares. There would be no comfort in the fact that God is all-knowing if He wasn't also caring.

One evening, my whole household was asleep. Johan had gone to bed early for some reason and I was having some quiet time. I told the Lord I would like to write songs for children. I was reading Matthew 6 at the place where it talks about how God knows what we need. Half an hour later I had this song! Ask and it shall be given you!
I'm Glad I've a God Who Knows

Trust and Obey

At school this last term, Lydia has been learning to obey. Her teacher aide taught her the sign for it, and she also taught her that obeying makes you happy!

In my Christian life, I have also been learning to obey God. It's not easy for children to obey, and it's not always easy for Christians to obey God. It goes against what we naturally want to do. It doesn't always make sense. It often means sacrifice. But it's true---obeying makes you happy!

Does Jesus Care?

Does Jesus Care? is a beautiful old hymn. It was a comfort to me when I had my miscarriages. I find playing the guitar and singing very therapeutic and what is more relaxing than ocean waves and beautiful scenery! I hope it encourages or de stresses someone!

New Every Morning--put to music

I wanted to memorize this poem that I shared last week. But as always I memorize things best when there's a tune!

Until Then, Zacchaeus and a Merry Christmas!

When Lydia was born and we were in hospital a long time with her, I rarely got to go to church. But one time we went to a church in the area, and they sang this song. It helped put things in perspective!

"Zacchaeus was a wee little man."
Joseph had fun acting as Zacchaeus!

A Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Don't Take My Cross Away

It's Biblical and right to pray about all our problems. Sometimes God takes our problems away when we ask. But think for a moment what we would be like if God took all our problems and trials away and life was always easy and rosy. Would we have compassion for others? Would we remember to pray? Would we need God? Would we ever see God make His strength perfect in our weakness? Would we see God provide? Would our faith be strengthened? Would He be real to us?

Favorites

I'm a person who loves to share things I find helpful!
These are some of my favorite places to get inspiration or encouragement. ( I don't necessary like everything there, but they're worth sharing.) I won't share the exact links but if you google the names or look them up on Youtube you'll find them.

For my house: I get overwhelmed very easily by too much of anything and yet I find it hard sometimes to let things go. So I find these three people very helpful. They help motivate me to keep things simple and uncluttered.
The Minimal Mom (Youtube Channel. She shares lots of tips on simplifying.)
Ali Cassazza (She has a website all about keeping life simple and uncluttered.)
Josh Becker  (He also has a website and a Youtube Channel along the same lines as the other two.)

Spiritual/Inspirational
Tiny Notes from Home  ( Youtube Channel. A vlog about a family who have a music ministry)
Sounds Like Reign (Youtube Channel. The same family's music.)
George Beverly Shea (Youtube. I love his music. I find it really relaxing. There are a few of his albums on youtube. I like to listen to them when I'm doing jobs.)
Ron Hamilton Songs (Ron Hamilton is a song writer and there are lots of his songs on Youtube. I listened to them a lot through my last miscarriage. )
Streams in the Desert (Devotional Book. This is my favourite devotional. I have often shared pieces from it on this blog. So many times it is relevant for what I am going through)
The Daily Light (Book. A morning and a night reading made up of  Bible verses from all over the Bible, put together to bring across a theme. Growing up my dad read this to us before meals, and my husband and I now read the night reading before we go to sleep.)
Elisabeth Elliot Quotes (Facebook Page. It seems nearly every quote I read is really helpful to me.)
Counting On ( Youtube. I like watching the Duggars on youtube whenever there is a new episode.)
Embassy Media (Website. My mum told me about this website . There are all different kinds of sermons and videos here. You have to pay to subscribe, but you can get one free month and see if you like it or not. I have found the sermons I listened to so helpful and just what I needed. So for me it's worth the subscription fee. Some favourites on here so far are Ron Dunn, Jim Schettler, Ann Conway and Gil Bates' sermons about God providing.)
The Pineapple Story Series (I have a cd series of these that I often listen to in the car on longish trips. But you can listen to them on Embassy Media and on Youtube. Otto Koning shares what he learnt as a missionary to tribal headhunters. He is a bit of a comedian, but the lessons he shares were really helpful to me when Lydia was born and we had to give up normal life for a time.)

I've probably forgotten some and there are many more I could share. But these are the ones I can think of that have helped me the most recently. I hope they may be helpful to you and if you have any favorites that are different to mine, I would love to know.
